Kathleen Ann (Donaldson) Betters

February 22, 1930 ~ April 18, 2024 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Tribute

Kathleen Ann "Kay" Betters of Pittsfield passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She resided at The Landing at Laurel Lake in Lee, MA for the last year and a half. She was an amazing 94 years young.
Kay was born in Pittsfield on February 22, 1930, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Mae (Herforth) Donaldson. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1947, and then from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1950 as a Registered Nurse. She remained a lifetime member of the St. Luke's Alumni Association. Kay loved working in the nursery at St. Luke's Hospital, but as her family grew, her occupation became full-time mother.
Kay married Robert L. Betters on September 22, 1951, and together they raised five children that made their lives full and complete. Kay and Bob were married for forty-eight wonderful years before his passing on October 15, 1999.
Kay loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, her contagious laugh, and the love she had for life. She always enjoyed a good gathering, and holidays and family dinners were her specialty.
As her family grew, Kay transitioned into her role as a grandmother. She loved to walk, and she quite literally walked the wheels off countless baby strollers. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved them all unconditionally.
Kay was a woman of faith. She took pleasure in her home, gardens, cooking, and always enjoyed trips to the casino with friends. She will be greatly missed.
Kay is survived by her five children and their spouses; Robert C. Betters (Janice) of Plymouth, MA, Kate M. Betters of Largo, FL (former husband John Baker of Pittsfield), Ann Marie Duquette (Dennis) of Windham, ME, John D. Betters (Dawn) of Pittsfield, and Karen A. Eddy (James) of Pittsfield. She also leaves eight grandchildren; Erin Betters (Zachary Wolfson), Jonathan (Tracy) and Garrit Baker, Jeffrey and Corbi (fiancé Matt) Duquette, Bryan (Allison) and Kyle Betters, and Mallory (Christopher) Marcisso, eleven great-grandchildren, her nephew, Tom Donaldson (Lori), and several cousins and countless friends, especially at Berkshiretown where she resided for many years. In addition to her beloved husband, Kay was predeceased by her brother, Charles W. Donaldson, his wife Helen, and her nephew, William Donaldson.
Kay's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her many friends and the staff at The Landing at Laurel Lake. We would also like to express our gratitude to the Hospice healthcare providers and Kristen Hinckley-Morrison of Berkshire County Caregivers for their compassionate care.
