Dorothy Ann (Bristol) Stroup

Dorothy Ann “Dot” Stroup, age 69, a lifelong resident of Pittsfield passed peacefully Friday, April 19, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 7, 1954, Dot was a daughter of the late Robert S. Bristol and Dorothy A. (Gavin) Bristol. She attended Taconic High School and worked as a taxi driver for 13 years.

Dot looked forward to spending time with her family, especially her children and later grandchildren. They lovingly called her “Mama Dukes.” She loved going to Bingo, but more importantly, loved winning Bingo! She also enjoyed crafting, especially crocheting, and loved teddy bears.

Dot loved having a good time and was a talented singer. Many may remember her for her beautiful voice leading local country western bands in the 80s.

Dot is survived by her children and their spouses, Kevin Kittler (Carrie) of Dalton, Scott Kittler (Lynda) of Pittsfield, and Rebecca A. Valentine (Alfred) of Pittsfield, and her beloved grandchildren, Bryan Kevin McCauley, David and Corey Abels, Austin Merriam, Andrew, Joshua, Owen, Jamie and Lake Kittler, Hollie Lombardi, Kristin Valentine (Miss Haley Levey), and Fredrick Valentine. Dot also leaves her siblings, Nancy Henneborn (Jim) of Dalton, William Bristol of Pittsfield, Lila Catalano (Dave & Ashley) of Pittsfield, and Linda Henderson (Jeff) of Pittsfield, many nieces and nephews and her longtime husband Robert G. Stroup of Concordia, Kansas.  

In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by her daughter, Melissa Kittler-Abels on 1/8/2013, her sister Teresa Bristol on 6/23/1984 and her brother Robert “Skip” Bristol on 11/10/2020.

Calling Hours will be at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 beginning at 5PM. A funeral home prayer service will begin at 6PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the “Berkshire Humane Society” and mailed to the funeral home.
