Cleante "Clem" Caryofilles

Cleante T. “Clem” Caryofilles, age 89, of Pittsfield died Monday, April 15, 2024 at Williamstown Commons.

He was born in Stephentown, NY on March 3, 1935. Clem served in the US Army and upon his return home joined the Pittsfield Fire Department in June of 1964. He served as a Firefighter for 26 years before his retirement in August of 1990.

Clem was also a skilled plumber and lent a hand to many families and fellow firefighters over the years.

Clem was an avid hunter and spent as much time as he could in the woods. He was named Sportsman of the Year and was an avid member of both the Onota Fishing Club and the Sportsman’s Club. He also loved his countless hunting trips to Canada and Colorado and told the stories often. Clem and Marge spent many afternoons enjoying long rides on his BMW motorcycle and visits to the Laconia Rallies.

Clem’s wife, Mary M. “Marge” Caryofilles, died September 23, 2020. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Caryofilles, Bobby Pavin and Jeff Pavin, daughters, Tina Caryofilles, Debbie Pavin and Kelley Graves, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He also leaves his sister Alice and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Clem was predeceased by his siblings, Francis, Mary, Doris, and Lester.

Calling hours will be SATURDAY, April 20, 2024 beginning at 11AM at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home. A funeral home prayer service will begin at 12:30PM led by Rev. Daniel Cymer, Parochial Vicar of St. Charles Church. All are welcome to join with the family at Zucchinis Restaurant for a Celebration of Clem’s Life from 1-4PM.
